It’s happening! My life as a digital nomad has begun: 12 cities in 12 months, living in each for 1 month. It is scary and exciting and very, very surreal. I’ve been in Prague for 13 days now and am just starting to feel like i am actually living here — that this is real life and not just a vacation where I go home in a week.
This trip definitely defines a lot of “firsts” for me: the first time I’ve blogged (bear with me), the first time I’ve been to Europe (except for Turkey), the first time I’ve lived out of a suitcase for more than 3 weeks, and the first time I have truly worked remotely.
Leading up to the trip, I was so focused on the details of leaving for 1 year that I did not really process what I was actually doing. When I finally had some time to think about it on the plane, I thought, “Am I crazy? Am I really doing this?” I got a bit flustered. But then I was met by a driver at the airport and We Roam lead Katie at my apartment, and it all seemed like it was going to be okay. I met the other Roamers in my group the next day at our co-working space and immediately felt at home. And Prague: wow! What a beautiful city!
I will write more about my inspiration to go on this trip, how it is to live and work far from home, and, of course, about the cities in which I live. Here’s to food, beer, culture, wine, new friends, diversity, learning, challenges, facing fears, exploring the world, and more beer! As they say in Czech: prosim pivo!
Peace and love,
Diana J.
